The Paths to Be a Successful Blogger

Millions of blogs are being indexed everyday and all their web editors, try very hard to be successful. But, what's the secret behind  those personalities who are confessed they even read blogs, do not collect money for their work or simply...make many of what everybody else is dreaming of, money.

Let's what these three personalities have to say:

GVO Authors.

Guy Kawasaki.

Darren Rowse.

Comment and let us know which one is your mommy blogger.

Three Ways Students Can Help Themselves

I wanted to write about what's happening on applications, and what I ended is thinking of best ways to help students getting to college or universities.   Sometimes inexperienced young people commits to study but they don't realize of all their chances to change  life while concluding  professional careers.

Change the way your take your notes in class.

It's not the best way to handle documents but for students works perfectly. Google Docs is a good tool not to take notes only, but to share them and enrich them when you have to work on projects.  Remember too, Google Docs allows you to embed Power Point files.

Of course, Google Docs isn’t perfect. When using it with 4 or more collaborators, Paul Stamatiou [Google Docs: Changing the Way I Work]  have found that merge conflicts  occur quite often and it becomes rather annoying.  Other than those issues, Docs falls short of being a complete word processing solution for students. Many of them still end up fine-tuning their documents in Microsoft Word before printing and turning them in.

Brand yourself writing on a blog.

"I haven’t yet taken much consideration’s for “branding” of my blog, but I think in someway our sites take on branding naturally ... so I guess in a way without trying, we do end up branding ourselves" says Stephanie from jusanotherblogger.com

And she's right. It doesn't matter if you are a technical or social student, having a blog helps you lots. One of the first steps in creating a brand for yourself is to make your blog visible. Post meaningful entries, comment on your niche’s top blogs, or simply gain a regular readership. Visibility creates opportunities, it's  believed that when you brand yourself, the competition becomes irrelevant. So, the goal of personal branding is to be recruited based on your brand, not applying for jobs.

Pick courses that will help you make bucks.

If you're in college, about to start the university, or looking to take some classes,  the list below for college courses will help make you rich.  It's well known that school doesn't prepare you  for life, even when educators, administrators or government shout it out loud.   Schools (though) help to identify which classes are the most relevant and helpful for those of you looking to become rich entrepreneurs.

Robert, head of flimjo.com lists eight courses that, if used correctly, will put you on your path to amaze money (no particular order):

1. Accounting - People does not comprehend the difference between an asset and a liability.

2.  Marketing  - Products fail because you need to find the market first, and then develop a product.

3. Economics - Identify which direction your business is going in, then take advantage of specific trends,

4. Finance - Learn time value of money and why you lose money while waiting for your refund check!

5. American History Course - Turn around terrible decision-making learning from history.

6. Writing and Composition - Open doors, figure it out how many blogs are paying money to good writers.

7. Literature Courses - Books provide timeless principles of personal development and wealth creation.

8. Management - Understanding of management concepts and learning different techniques and skills will not only make you likable,  they will  help you make more money!

Struggling to Keep Afloat your Blog? Read Away.

This is the second part of a Spanish post we published here. The authorship correspond to John Metzler, head of Fresh Promo; which we reproduced, because TonNet considers many bloggers are still in the first steps to build up credibility and authority with their blogs.

The post in reference can be traslated in the same other Spanish page and it was referred to: How to create Search Engine-Friendly Content and Choosing Your Keywords Wisely.

Get Others to Link to Your Blog

In theory there are countless ways, some traditional and some quite innovative, to get other web sites to link to yours. In practice, it can be easier said than done. Google defines a link as it pertains to rankings and SEO as a "vote" from one site to another. The more quality votes your site receives, the greater chance you have of ranking well. If a well established site links to yours, that link carries more weight than one would from a mom & pop shop or less reputable page.

If your blog has useful content and is doing something unique, you're already ahead of much of the competition. People need a reason to link to your blog, as very few will do it out of the goodness of their heart. Trading links can work, but link exchange networks have decreased in value and won't be of much use in competitive fields. Buying links, if you haven't heard, is a big Google no-no. While entire articles could be written on this topic, here are a few popular methods of acquiring incoming links:

>Issuing special event releases with a link back to your site.
>Submitting to reputable business directories such as Yahoo! and Business.com
>Be active on related blogs by commenting and exchanging ideas.
>If you have friends with blog sites, ask if they would mind adding your link in a "visible" section
>Participate in relevant forums and discussion boards with a link in your signature.
>Write and submit original articles to web publications in your field with a link in your bio (Guest posting).
>Get involved and active in social media and bookmarking.

Don't Fall Behind to the Social Media Revolution

The collaboration between Internet users and the development of online communities is at an all-time high. Social bookmarking sites such as Del.icio.us, StumbleUpon, Furl, Reddit, and Technorati offer users a way to store their favorite pages and media online, and share it with others. These services also provide a way to promote your own blog or create a buzz over a event or service. Creating a Myspace page or Squidoo "lens" is also a way to network and share information.

The key to using social media and bookmarking sites to your advantage is to not be shy. Network with other users, bookmark and share useful content, create eye-catching titles for your entries, and tell your friends and co-workers to vote on content you have on these sites.

These points are a general guideline to follow for SEO. If you want to perform a profesional search engine optimization, experts are a good outsourcing option in competitive blogosphere, while the DIY attitude can yield great results for blog owners with small income budgets. So, if you're in the latter group, hopefully this post will help you to get started.

Verizon Steps Will Change Wireless Market and Predictions for the 2008

Nobody was expecting Verizon's decision. It would allow customers to use any compatible device or software on its networks. The question is when American users will be able to start using Verizon networks? The announcement says it will be by the end of next year, users of such wireless products will be able to connect to its network using any device that meets the 'minimal technical standard', and they're compatible with its technology.

Analysts think this may be either a response to Google’s Android mobile operating system or an attempt to satisfy the FCC press for the upcoming 700 Mhz spectrum auctions(They want to be open). What will it be those devices then? This means pretty much any CDMA device or application, even those ones that are not officially offered by Verizon. It's not like you're going to walk into a Verizon store and see a bazaar of new products but it's a good sign that the glacier of mobile control is starting to melt!

What it really smacks Google plans is the vision of Pieter Knook, senior vice president of Microsoft's Mobile Communications Business saying " Microsoft is very excited to see Verizon Wireless make such a bold move to satisfy the demands of wireless consumers". Android must be paying attention, even iPhone designers because it looks like Verizon announcement is an early Christmas present for Microsoft. Timing will be super interesting to follow. Verizon's network should be opening up about the same time Android platform handsets become available, in late 2008. What are then , your predictions for the 2008? Is Scoble wrong?

Microsoft and Google are playing hard in order to catch users and customers. I didn't know for example until yesterday about Windows Live Translator, neither the last Google updates on Google Mobile Maps. Once again, what are your predictions about Mobile Media for the 2008?

And before I go, I want to congratulate Hackosphere for being back, surely many of us are anxious to know what you have to say. Welcome back!

What You Might Be Missing in Tech

I did. That's why after spending some time reading my suscriptions and filtering all the bunch of information today I would love to tell you many things are going on. Last night for example I was talking with Applelens' webmaster and what I've realized was he didn't know about the Open Social event by Google today which by the way still is in hold at this time (13:25 PM). I did receive a heads up this morning about this topic by one of our ecuadoran friends , Inforc Ecuador. Before I even had a clue of what was going on around technolgy field and being this blog about those business I consider a responsability to share with my readers our most relevant findings.

I really admire the confort to make and publish video from Scoble who has the privilege of record his videos while driving. Amen! He's being at the top of the media bloggers who's being investigating about the evolution of RSS agregators. What for example what's happening with Bloglines now.

Did you ever thought about buying a new laptop or replacing that old one you are using right now? Just keep reading and get online or nerby Walmart. Anyway in order to save money you will have to sacrifice some useful features as those presented by Amit Agarwal.

Now, I don't want you get tired of reading the same thing in different blogs but at least allow to point out three more aspects of our hot findings today. Yahoo has released a very interesting update for Yahoo Messenger, now you will be able to see YouTube videos embed in the Messenger. Kool. I also get in touch with the new iPhone Paul Stamatiou just got and I am still thinking and waiting for the w960i but I am not sure anymore if the holding will pay dividends now that the gPhone is in its way!

Hold on, please see what's happening with Technorati, isn't that kool? Second by second it shows the changes in the blogosphere. Here the technology topic.

Abuse of Authority: Driver's License, Please

Now that the immigration laws are being enforced and regulations to protect national security are being placed as the last one in NJ were police officers might be able to ask for your identification and failure to do that will allow them to call USCIS for assistance. You, being a US national, American citizen can get all the mess Amor Righi got into.

He's pledging innocence and want to fight Civil Rights as Constitutions states and Ohio Laws establishes. He was arrested after calling 911 and asked for help while a Circuit City Manager refused to let him go their parking lot. Officer in charge asked for a Driver's license while Mr. Righi was walking, the officer didn't read his Miranda rights as it should be and fail to produce law evidence to justify the detention of Amor Righi. He's was accused of interfering official business!!

However, Ohio’s “stop and identify” law, says:

2921.29 (C) Nothing in this section requires a person to answer any questions beyond that person â € ™s name, address, or date of birth. Nothing in this section authorizes a law enforcement officer to arrest a person for not providing any information beyond that person â € ™s name, address, or date of birth or for refusing to describe the offense observed.

My question is if this is happening with a normal American citizen what poor immigrants should be waiting for? Please help Amor Righi, he's accepting donations through PayPal in order to fight his rights and has already decided to look for help in the ACLU. For updates follow up here.

Is a PhD. Worth Six Years of Study?

This is the question Grew Mankiw answers in his blog, being a a professor of economics at Harvard University. Originally he asks himself:
Would you recommend someone to do a PhD if he knows he's unlikely to become a star in the field (weak math background due to lack of trainings and not being particularly gifted; lack of confidence in his creativity and talents) and does not have a burning desire to do research, but has interests in social science, enjoys learning, and likes to be able to interact with people he admires and respects? Or do you think it's better for him to work first until he's certain that research is what he wants to do?

And then he concludes that a PhD takes quite a bit more time and concerted effort than most graduate degrees and the passion for the study of any carrer you've chosen.

For All Our Fallen Man!

Please do not disregard the courageous ladies in this Memorial Day!

I was talking with a friend o mine yesterday and I started to think that all you need is a great idea. Why after many months writing in your blogs, you can't start monetizing on it? Is it the process that took off YouTube, Friendster, Xobni, isn't it? So, why you don't try to get some income from Payperpost, ReviwMe or Agloco!

Of course as our friend told us we need to optimize our blog in the very first place. You won't need to have more outgoing links than those incoming to yours. Try to link to sources with a higher PR. And follow a decent policy of linking in places like Digg.

We also have the oportunity to go along with those conferences that are becoming more of a relationship with a trusted source, and less of a casual encounter, such as Elearnspacelikes to call it. In order to get income our blogs need to have a very reasonable traffic which in turn needs to be created with such relationships, comments, quality, frecuency, steadiness and length ot each of your posts!

Not to mention the wide diversity of audience you will attend and you'll have to reach!

Now, dear friend of mine it seems like this is a faulty post for our pourposes. Why? Because I have seven outgoing links and only one is incoming...!

Relationship with your Readers Matters

Susan Wu writes a blog about Web 2.0 and Venture Capital. What caught my attention is this post applied mainly to the market but pretty easy comparable with what you are doing with your blogs. Weblogs are the single most valuable piece of real estate for people who really thinks blogging is a serious activity.

She is talking about avatars and endorse MyBLogLog because it facilitates passive and serendipitous discovery. She also talks about the emotional relationships among users (in our case readers). How avatars are undervalued right now and why identity matters because you're more likely to invest in an avatar identity that is fun and cartoony than one that is photorealistic, given the current state of where blogger sentiment is.

In this post that I like a lot, Susan is asking for some answers. Will anyone of our readers might be able to answer at least one?

1. What happens in an online environment when there are absolutely NO cognitive barriers between our online and offline selves?
2. Why does an avatar matter at all?
3. What types of relationships do people have with each other online and how can an avatar make that more or less meaningful?

Boss Not Always Might Be Honest About Praise!

70 Percent Of All Praise Sarcastic

The Good Friday of R. Scobble

After a long advocate of PC's and Windows it seems like the famous Scoble is moving to Mac.

In the US is Easter but for other cultures is the celebration of Good Friday, Jen has brought this magnificent idea already spread between Helen Mowers and Wesley Fryer. Please, remember cybercompliment is the clue!

I don't think this is because April Fool but certainly Blogger will be shortly a Pro service. (Will this blog jump on Wordpress?) So sad for Google bloggers now that we have better tools and Google Search Box has been enhanced to be used in your blogs and as an administrator you can also learn how your visitors navigate your site. OMG.

Many ways you can get visitors to your blog but try something else, why don't you start promoting your content is forums or with original projects as this offered by an former blogger: vator.tv.

You can also get into business speaking, writing and talking about sex. Any other ideas? Please leave note if you want to contribute with your very own experience.

NEO BPLE and A Blogger Worth Modeling

It pays to be patient. Finaly and with the great help of Ramani, bple has a differente look for the 2007, loads quiker and has a profesional design. I wonder how many of you can give your opinion about this new look, what you don't like or what should it be changed. Comments are open!

A good example for all bloggers to follow is the good work of Lifehacker, Steve Rubel says:"The three bloggers who write for the site are always nice and above board". Personally a part of Lifehacker we also like TechCrunch which is a very good example of Good Blogger!

Remote Access point out:a) Blogs are not an educational panacea which will make us all smarter and our kids to be independent learners with a global perspective and, b) Blogs are only one piece of the ever - expanding puzzle that together makes up what is often called web 2.0. We all agree on that but what come next and what will it be the new enviroment where we as learners can be laid out?

I have my own Linked In but if you didn't know the importance to be Linked In probably you should pay attention to what the PR Gurus are doing. Today, I've found this post de Guy Kawasaki.

Now is time to finish this post. Paul Stamatiou makes a good review (his not being paid for it) of a new application that works as socialized homepages, we are talking about Webjam. Why not give it a shot!

Ecuador Elections: From Right to the Left

"The preliminary count from Ecuador's Supreme Electoral Tribunal is even more in favour of Mr Correa than the exit polls, which indicated he had won 57% of the vote" -BBC.

"Correa pledged to construct 100,000 low-cost homes and copied Noboa's promise to double a $36 'poverty bonus' that 1.2 million poor Ecuadoreans receive each month" -Yahoo News.

"...Voters were thinking - they all suck and they all lie so let’s give this one a chance. Throw the dice! It was the same thing Bolivia’s voters repeatedly said ahead of their vote cast for Evo Morales. Now, Ecuador joins Bolivia in the contest to be the most unstable country of the Americas..." -Publiuspundit.

"... the reality is that the recent victories of the Left in Latin America and now Central America are tempered with realism that they need to develop social captialism, a mixed economy, if they are to get out from under the thumb of Imperialism" -LE REVUE GAUCHE.

"...if he tries to go communist and take away our rights or liberty (which I dont' think will happen, seemeingly the communist label was just bad publicity from the contrary side), I would have to go out to the streets and do the fighting with my hands like anyone else would here" -Darynthe.

"We anticipate that the gridlock and confrontation between the executive and legislative will reach new heights under a Correa administration," investment bank Goldman Sachs said..." -Reuters.

"...he may default on the country's debt and said Ecuador doesn't need a free trade agreement with the U.S. He also said he would maintain the dollar as Ecuador's currency, replace congress with a constituent assembly and try to ensure Ecuador, South America's fifth-largest oil producer, rejoins the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries after leaving it in 1992"> -Blooberg.
